Welcome to the room of the Galanes, also called Spaniards.

This cuadrilla represents solemnity, order and authority within the Cuadrillas of San Martín. Its costumes, swords, flags, boots and white or moro horses evoke the colonial memory of the 16th century. But in the plaza that history does not stay still: it enters the game, crosses with other memories, confronts itself and becomes a living tradition of the territory.

The Galanes strike an elegant, ceremonial presence. They are a force of organization, challenge and representation within the equestrian tale.

In this room, order also rides hand in hand with the Galanes.

Warrior Costume

Short descriptive audio

This is the Warrior costume.

Its form recalls the figure of the Spanish conquistador within the Cuadrillas. The breastplate, the helmet, the sword, the red cape and the white banderillas build a presence of authority, symbolic combat and solemnity.

Galán Costume

Short descriptive audio

This is the Galán costume.

This attire keeps a more sober image of the Spaniards: white hat, shirt and trousers, black jacket, gaiters, bow tie and the tahalí, a white band crossed over the chest with twelve black knots.
